Nice Cream is a seasonal ice cream handcrafted right here in Chicago, IL. We use fresh & organic ingredients from local farms that treat their animals with love and respect. You can feel nice about putting this in your belly. We promise!

After receiving an ice cream maker as a wedding gift in June 2007, Kris Swanberg quickly became famous among family and friends for her fresh ingredients and exciting flavors. In October 2008, Nice Cream’s first line of seasonal flavors debuted at Green Grocer. In January 2009, Kris’ friend Annie Gomberg started pitching in making pints and ended up working full time as Nice Cream’s business lady. Buying Nice Cream is buying local and we love that! Nice Cream is a big believer in using real food that promotes sustainable and environmentally sound growing practices, and so we buy most of our fresh produce, eggs, and dairy from farms located within 100 miles of Chicago.

Nice Cream also supports local food by supporting independent bakeries, grocery stores and artisans. Our Fresh Strawberry with Angel Food Cake Ice Cream starts with cream from Organic Valley, a co-op of local organic farms across the Midwest, and free-range eggs from River Valley Ranch in Wisconsin. Then we add fresh strawberries (handpicked by us) from Susie’s Garden Patch in Garden Prairie, Illinois, and angel food cake from Sweet Cakes Bakery in Ukranian Village. We use the local printing and design company Letterform to create our pints, and then bring Nice Cream to independent grocery stores and cafes in Chicago.
